Inisa community breaks silence on Oyedokun's defection

Olunisa in Council under the leadership of Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Oyedele (JP) has said they knew nothing about the recent defection of former National Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, to All Progressives Congress (APC).

During their solidarity visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Government's house, Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Oyedele (JP) said though Oyedokun is a bonafide son of Inisa, but his journey to APC was a lone decision, he did not carry anybody along before embarking on it.

He assured Governor Adeleke of the town's support for his administration because his performances so far has surpassed the expectations of the masses.

Earlier in his speech, Aremo of Inisaland, Chief Kunle Alao, said the visit became imperative so as to diffuse the mind of some people who believed that Oyedokun's exit from PDP marked the end of the party in Inisa.

Alao said PDP in Inisa remains one and are impressed by dividends of democracy they have enjoyed from the present administration, he said the ancient town is ready to support Adeleke's re-election in 2026.

In his response, Governor Adeleke appreciated the people of the town for their pro-activeness in correcting some impressions on the step taken by Alhaji Oyedokun.

He noted that Oyedokun's action took him by surprise as there was no previous rancour between them, just for him to hear that he has followed Babayemi to APC.

Adeleke however said he has put that behind him because his eyes are on fulfilling the mandates given him by Osun residents. Regardless of political affiliation, he said he would put every nook and cranny of Osun in its rightful progressive place in the comity of states.
