A Nigerian former Ambassador, Dr. Yemi Farounbi has described the Osun State Governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as a man who became the Governor of Osun State to fulfil a particular destiny.
Dr. Farounbi who was the Chairman of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation between 1999 – 2003 was invited as a special Guest of Honour during the inauguration of newly purchased six transmitter equipments acquired by the Osun State government under Senator Ademola Adeleke recently said “it is not a coincidence that the Governor was here to complete an unfinished assignment by his late elder brother and first Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, rather he is here by divine providence to fulfill a particular destiny.”
Dr. Farounbi, who himself said he was obsessed with the success and progress of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation while he held sway, expressed disappointment at the way the station was left by various administrations before the coming of Senator Ademola Adeleke without the required technical development.
He said he was not happy to see the official media outfit of the state grappling with obsolete equipments for many years before now, which, according to him, nearly made the station go into extinction.
He however, expressed delight and surprise that the sibling of the first Executive Governor of the state who established the station was the one who came around to ensure that the station and her other sister stations now have what it takes to compete with their counterparts in the media industry around the world as a truly digital media platform which befits Osun State."
Dr. Farounbi had earlier told the gathering that when he took over the management of the station several years after the first Executive governor of the state left the government of Osun state, the station was left to its fate and almost died for lack of adequate maintenance of its equipments after his own tenure in 2003.
